Bandung Gets a Purpose-Driven Running Event This October
Bandung's running calendar has a notable addition for the second half of 2026. Padma Run Bandung 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, 4 October, starting and finishing at Padma Hotel Bandung in the hills of North Bandung. Organisers expect more than 1,061 participants from across Indonesia, from casual joggers and families to competitive athletes.
The event carries the theme #LaceUpForChange, and this year it holds particular significance: it coincides with Padma Hotel Bandung marking its first full year of operations, having opened on 1 July 2026.
Two Routes Through North Bandung's Scenic Hills
Runners can choose between a 5K and a 10K course, both winding through the hilly terrain and streets of North Bandung. Registered participants receive an exclusive race jersey and finisher medal, along with refreshments and sponsor activations on the day. Cash prizes are available for podium finishers.
According to Race Director and Corporate Director of Marketing Communications Desiree Merlina, as reported by Antara, the elevation changes along the course are intentional in spirit: "The hills and elevation changes along the course symbolize life's journey, filled with ups and downs that test our resilience and determination."
A CSR Initiative Across the Padma Hotels Group
This is not simply a hotel-branded fun run. Padma Run 2026 is a coordinated Corporate Social Responsibility initiative involving multiple properties under the Padma Hotels group, including Padma Resort Legian, Padma Resort Ubud, Padma Hotel Semarang, Resinda Hotel Karawang, and the host property in Bandung.
A portion of every registration fee will be donated to Sekolah Pendidikan Luar Biasa (SPLB) Anak dengan Hambatan Intelektual (Tunagrahita) in Cipaganti, Bandung. The school supports children with intellectual disabilities, and the funds are directed toward educational opportunities and developmental programs.
This structure means participants are effectively contributing to a local cause simply by signing up, which gives the event a community dimension that extends well beyond race day.
Why It Matters for Hosts
Independent accommodation operators in North Bandung and the surrounding area should note that an event drawing over 1,000 participants from across Indonesia creates a concrete demand spike for the weekend of 3 to 5 October 2026. Runners typically arrive the day before and may stay through Sunday evening or Monday morning. Properties within reasonable distance of Padma Hotel Bandung, particularly those in the Dago, Lembang, or Cipaganti corridors, stand to benefit from early preparation: updating availability, setting clear check-in and check-out policies for short stays, and communicating proximity to the race start to guests searching for accommodation. Highlighting nearby breakfast options and luggage storage for race-day mornings can also be a practical differentiator for this specific traveller segment.
Further details about registration and routes are available on the event's official website. Details were first reported by Antara.
