Jakarta Enters the Global Hyrox Circuit

Jakarta is about to host its first-ever Hyrox event. AirAsia Hyrox Jakarta 2026 brings the internationally recognized fitness race format to Indonesia for the first time, combining timed running segments with functional workout stations in a format designed to be competitive yet accessible to participants at almost any fitness level.

Hyrox has expanded across numerous countries in recent years, drawing in professional athletes alongside recreational runners and gym-goers. The Jakarta edition follows that global pattern, positioning the city as a serious destination for active travel and sports tourism.

What the Road to Race Day Looks Like

In the lead-up to the event, Puma, which serves as Hyrox's Global Partner, launched the Road to AirAsia Hyrox Jakarta program. The initiative includes structured training sessions, Hyrox simulations, and community activities intended to help participants build toward race day progressively.

A central piece of the program is the Puma Hyrox Team, formed after an open selection process that drew more than 100 applicants. Those selected trained under the guidance of Puma Indonesia's own Hyrox athletes, working on strength, endurance, and race-specific conditioning.

Puma Indonesia brand ambassadors Ibnu Jamil and Sheryl Sheinafia participated in the program. Sheryl noted that the experience built her confidence and expressed hope that more Indonesian women would feel encouraged to take part, citing the supportive community environment as a key factor.

Edwardo Senaen, an Indonesian Hyrox athlete who has qualified for the Hyrox World Championship, emphasized the mindset shift that training brings. "The road to race day often transforms more than just your physical condition," he said, as first reported by Observer ID. "You learn to become more disciplined, more confident, and more appreciative of every milestone you achieve along the way."

Rachmat B. Trilaksono, Team Head of Marketing at Puma Indonesia, described the appeal of Hyrox as going beyond finishing a race. The experience, he said, is about personal growth, community, and building confidence through the process.

A Shoe Built for the Format

Puma also used the Jakarta buildup to introduce a new colorway of the Deviate Elite Hyrox, described as the first shoe designed specifically for Hyrox competition. The new version features a teal, mint, green, and lavender palette. The shoe's construction includes NITROFOAM Elite cushioning for energy return, a full-length carbon-fiber PWRPLATE for propulsion efficiency, and a PUMAGRIP outsole suited to the varied surfaces athletes encounter across Hyrox workout stations. The Deviate Elite Hyrox launched earlier in 2026 and has been used by athletes competing internationally.

Why It Matters for Hosts

For independent accommodation and wellness operators in Jakarta, the arrival of a major international fitness race format signals a new category of guest worth preparing for. Hyrox participants tend to be highly motivated travelers who plan their trips around race calendars, often arriving days early for final training and staying on to recover. Operators near training venues or with access to fitness facilities, recovery amenities, or nutritious food options are well placed to attract this segment. Communicating those offerings clearly in listings and pre-arrival communications can make a meaningful difference in bookings around event weekends.
