Green SM, the electric mobility brand operated by Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), has added electric motorbike rides to its app-based service in the Indonesian capital, building on the electric taxi operation it launched in the city in December 2024.
The motorbike service is aimed squarely at shorter urban trips, where two wheels have a practical edge over cars in Jakarta's famously dense traffic. Riders book through the company's app by entering a pickup point and destination, selecting the motorbike option, and confirming the booking. Green SM describes the service as an affordable, lower-emission alternative to conventional ride options.
From Vietnam to a Multi-City Indonesia Network
Green SM originally built its electric mobility business in Vietnam and Laos before entering Indonesia in late 2024. Jakarta was its first Indonesian market, starting with electric cars. Since then, the company has extended its footprint to Bali, Surabaya, Makassar, and Bandar Lampung, making it one of the broader electric ride-hailing networks operating across the archipelago.
Alongside the motorbike launch, Green SM has also introduced a partner scheme that lets owners and renters of VinFast electric vehicles join its platform as service providers. The arrangement is designed to grow the number of vehicles available on the network without the company bearing the full cost of fleet expansion.
The motorbike addition rounds out a lineup that now covers electric cars, electric motorbikes, and app-based booking under one platform, a combination the company says supports its goal of making electric transport more accessible in major Indonesian cities.
