One Hub, Six Transit Lines: What Jakarta's Donut Bridge TOD Means

Jakarta is planning a transit-oriented development (TOD) at Sudirman Station that would bring six separate public transport systems under one roof. Informally called the "Donut Bridge" after its distinctive design, the project is targeted for completion in 2028 and will be executed by the Jakarta provincial government through MRT Jakarta.

What Gets Connected

According to Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, who spoke at a media briefing on June 26, 2026, the six services that will converge at the Dukuh Atas TOD are:

  • KRL Commuter Line
  • Transjakarta
  • MRT Jakarta
  • LRT Jabodebek
  • LRT Jakarta
  • Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link

Right now, passengers moving between these services often navigate separate entrances, ticketing systems, and walkways scattered across the Dukuh Atas area. The TOD is designed to consolidate all of them into a single, unified interchange, reducing transfer times and physical complexity for daily riders.

Still a Working Title

The "Donut Bridge" label is not the project's official name. Minister Purwagandhi confirmed the name has not been finalized, and the nickname simply reflects the structure's form and its role as an intermodal connector. An official designation will presumably follow as the project advances toward construction.

The Bigger Picture for Jakarta Mobility

The government's stated goal is to shift more residents toward public transport by making the network genuinely convenient to use. When transfers require minimal effort and travel times fall, the calculus for choosing a private vehicle over transit changes. Connecting the airport rail link to the same hub as urban rail and bus rapid transit also strengthens the case for arriving visitors to skip taxis entirely and ride into the city center.

The Sudirman corridor already sits at the heart of Jakarta's commercial district, meaning the TOD will serve not just daily commuters but also business travelers, hotel guests, and tourists moving between the airport and central Jakarta.

Why It Matters for Hosts

Independent accommodation operators in and around the Sudirman, Thamrin, and Menteng corridors have a concrete opportunity here. Once the Donut Bridge TOD opens in 2028, guests arriving via the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link will be able to connect directly to MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta services at a single point. Hosts can start building this into their guest communications now: update arrival guides to mention the Dukuh Atas interchange as the transfer point, and flag that the full integration is expected by 2028. Guests who understand the transit network are more likely to arrive confidently, ask fewer logistical questions, and leave better reviews. Properties that position themselves as transit-accessible will also become more competitive as the hub raises the profile of the entire corridor.
