What Happened at Ngurah Rai
Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Communication and Legal Division Head at Ngurah Rai Airport, confirmed the situation in an official statement. By 10:00 WITA, 17 flights to and from Jakarta had been either canceled or rescheduled.
On the arrivals side, five inbound flights from Jakarta were canceled: two TransNusa services (8B5106 and 8B5104) and three Indonesia AirAsia flights (QZ808, QZ806, and QZ802).
Departures were hit harder. Eleven outbound flights were canceled, including services operated by Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, TransNusa, and Indonesia AirAsia. One Garuda Indonesia flight, GA403 on the Denpasar-Jakarta route scheduled to depart at 07:00 WITA, was delayed rather than canceled. One Pelita Air flight, IP105 on the Denpasar-Jakarta route, had already been affected the previous day, on 5 September.
Despite the cancellations, airport management stated that overall operations at Ngurah Rai remained functional. Coordination with AirNav Indonesia was ongoing to monitor airspace conditions, and the airport's operator, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), worked directly with airlines to manage schedule updates and passenger services.
